Edinburgh

A few weeks ago we had a road trip around Britain, with our destination being Edinburgh to see my sissie, India. Sadly on the last bit of journey from Leeds, we decided to turn off the motorway to see Newcastle's Angel of the North, and we broke down. After almost three hours, we were towed into Edinburgh and arrived, exhausted. We then had only two days in Scotland where we celebrated India's birthday, visited various vintage shops and walked around the city. We were given a tour of the Universities art rooms one evening where we got to spy on the students work. I love the atmosphere in messy art studios.
After quite a hectic weekend where we discovered the car wouldn't be fixed in time for us to get back for our Grandma's funeral, we had an emergency midnight visit to the hospital (Babe and I were fine- just a spot of food poisoning), I lost my purse, and then they issued severe weather warnings all up the country, we miraculously made it home on Sunday evening in a hire car. I needed about a week to recover from it all!
Despite all this aggro, we loved what we saw of Edinburgh and we've already began planning our next trip up there, where we will fly up in an hour (rather than 7 or so driving!) and plan to stay much longer so we can get more of a feel for the place, and visit a bit more. It's weird to think there will be three of us then!

Another week

My, hasn't this week flown by? A quiet valentines with my man before he went away for a few days- waa! Leaving me to indulge on Murder mysteries by the dozen, tonnes of roasted vegetables and pairing up our clean socks. O_O Sometimes I can't believe how exciting my life is.

Thirty

We've been experiencing some particularly cold cornish days. This fact, mixed with Liam wanting to try out the camera has resulted in some incredibly unflattering photographs of me wrapped up in too many layers.
We're both wearing our new jumpers. Liam in his navy Guernsey that I snatched off the £1 rail in Cornwall Hospice - my dad's real jealous about this, because he's wanted one for ages. I'm in a baggy knit that was pinched from my sister in place of all the lovely skirts, shorts and tight-fitting dresses she's taken off my hands for the next few months. It's quite hideous in these photographs - I hadn't dressed it up well - but it's so darn soft, and these days I tend to float towards the cosy life. More and more I've been having afternoons in bed drawing or listening to the radio. My body is changing so much (see here) and I'm exhausted. Friday bought us up to 30weeks. As if the babe knew, they began to up-the-ante and kick their wee feet hard against my rips and my side. It looks hilarious to watch, but boy! does it hurt. Days are filled with sorting the flat, cooking, sleeping and listening to Radio 4.

14.1

This year I have started a daily journal (Liam's mama bought me this beautiful diary for christmas). I'm just writing a few sentences into each evening to sum up my day. My input for the 14th of January was "Liam baked me two loaves of bread for this week. We went for a walk across the beach to try out our new camera and then we ate leftover sausage and roasted sweet potato sandwiches for a late lunch. For dinner we had cereal." This pretty much sums up our Saturdays. I've just developed the film and these are the photographs from that lazy saturday afternoon.
They were taken on the car boot camera, a Canonet 2B, which was actually quite difficult to use as it was so basic that we felt as though we must be doing something wrong. And then to get the negative's back and see the blurred images, we realised we probably were (that or the camera may be broken - when we went to use it a part had fallen off so Liam spent a long time watching youtube videos and fixing it up).
Something about the soft haze between the camera and us warms my heart though, so I'll keep it for sunny days.
I'll update the other photographs from this camera during this week, so keep your eyes peeled.
