Clever nettle's clever giveaway!
Clever Nettle teamed up with ModCloth to make this really cute giveaway. She asked everyone to comment her and tell her about their summer inspiration. So I thought I'd take a chance and have a go. I checked back a couple of days later to see that I'd actually won! And today the lovely gifts came through in the post! They arrived so quickly. and it was such a lovely surprise! And just look how cute it was wrapped up with an adorable Clever Nettle postcard! I am so thrilled! Today's been a bit of a lazy day so I've worn the socks and when I do something nice I'll be sure to wear the hair band or earrings and carry that cute purse on my arm, I think it'd look great as a clutch!

oh oh oh

I've been searching and searching for a vintage bathing suit for my honeymoon. There are a couple which I've seen and loved. The first is one for sale in Sally Jane Vintage. Its actually a romper, but I think it'd be perfect for lying around on the beach. I love it I really do, but it's just a bit too expensive for me at the moment what with needing to keep saving for deposit and rent! And the second one I lost on eBay. I was so so angry, it was exactly what I'd been looking for, but I just forgotten all about it! I love the colour and pattern, and the sweet heart shape along the top. Anyway, I'll just have to keep searching!

three days
Wednesday was my last day of college, on the bus, and i guess my exhibition looked ok. apart from the fact I was oposite this really crummy piece with a stupid HUGE curtain which made my work look silly and insignificant. All she'd done was scan and print 5, 10 and 20 pound notes. that isn't work! that's illegal. urgh, sorry I'll end the rant. So I felt brilliant to have finished so we went over to see Anna and Jo and to give little phoebe her late birthday present (and anna her VERY late one!). As its her second birthday we got her a collection of big-girl dressing up clothes so lots of scarves and pearls, some heels, sunnies and a couple of handbags. That was real nice.
Thursday was yesterday and was a lazy day. I watched Scarlett's sportsday and then went home to lounge around watching one tree hill and making a patchwork. Actually, I also nipped across the road to the charity shop to buy an old copy to Alice in Wonderland and this book, which will become my new note/sketch/scrap book. so lets see how it goes...

And today, I’m having a good friday.
Really good: I got up early and started sorting through clothes and old art work(dating back to primary school it seems!) and listening to a great worship CD that the Truro girls made for me at my bridal shower. I was shocked at just how many knitted jumpers I have. I've packed three binbags away with some painting clothes and jeans I know I wont be wearing the next few days.
All wedding things seem to be coming together, we bought a lot of wine at the weekend! And I've sorted decorations. The bridesmaid dresses are almost finished altering and mine is ready. I bought it home and I really, really want to try it on. I am so excited now, it's only two weeks tomorrow, I can't believe how quickly it's flown round.
The weekend holds lots of shopping for ties, rings and shoes for Liam. Also we have the car boot tomorrow, and I'm hoping to find some old wooden crates.
Have a lovely weekend everyone!

envelopes

This afternoon has consisted of rooting through the Truro charity shops for something to finish off Anna's birthday gift. But I was just surprised at how dear Oxfam was! I also spent the morning in the print room, finishing off last sketchbook things, and making a few more screen prints. Tonight we were going to have dinner with friends, but she's not well, so it's been postponed. That's alright though, as I have a lot of work to sort out for tomorrow and could do with Liams help!
I went to the Crantock Charity C.B on Saturday. It was such a disaster! There were five or six fairly bare stalls and a dreadful teenage band playing Stacey's mum. All I got was a flower press and some little silver frames. No fine clothes or china at all! Oh, and some candy floss to lighten my mood on giving up the Mitchell C.B for this.

13-5-09

These are one of my latest purchases, gorgeous vintage slips. One of the charity shops must've been donated loads, as a huge box of them appeared last week. I'm probably going to get a few more and put them on etsy as they are all a bit too big, but I'll keep these two and take them in a little. Well, a lot.I'm going to use them in my exhibition, so that's why I first took these photographs.
apologies
I've been extremely slack on posting recently. I've had a hectic two weeks, not only am I readying my exhibition, Hannah came to stay last week, then Josh this week.
Hannah works at the weekends, so is unable to make it down for my hen night, so she came for three days to do hen stuff. We'd wanting to go to a lovely spa on the cliffs that give you free delicious cream teas and spoil you all day long, but sadly they were booking up not even any spaces for two small girlies! So instead we decided we'd spoil ourselves at this fabulous restaurant, a few cliffs over. We stayed for nearly three hours, eat had three courses and felt so stuffed we had to waddle home and lie in the sunshine for the rest of the day!

The wedding is in three weeks on Saturday, so we've been rushing to finish things off, here we trawl through magazines for ideas on how to all wear our hair. I've got 6 bridesmaids, My sisters; India, Ruby, Minnie, Scarlett; Liam's sister, Emily and Hannah and they all have very different hair cuts! But I think I have it sussed now.

sleeeepy

My new knitted jumper, for only 50p! Looks great with just leggings and a long chain necklace.
This weekend has been real slow but nice. I am exhaaausted! Yesterda Liam and I went to a car boot with only £3 and it cost 80p for both of us to get it. But we still managed so pick up some sweet bargains. I'll post some pictures of them soon! Today I'm working loads (hannah came round last week and I got no work done at all!) but I'd much rather be out enjoying the much-missed sunshine!

secrets

For a new art project, I've been collecting lots and lots of secrets. It's obviously on the theme of secrts, so I've been writing and finding secret letters, and building secret dens. My exhibition is in two weeks and I am in desperate need of just a few more secrets! I like nice secrets, heart warming ones, not destroying, cruel secrets. (If you have any, pleeeease leave anonymously in a comment. It will be MUCH appreciated!)
My favourite one to come up was this;
"Whilst working at a farm park I took a kitten which the owners were being cruel to, and I let them assume it had run away. Happily the cat went to have 14 happy years at our house. This was my secret all the time I worked at the farm."
I just love the bravery of this secret, it's beautiful and makes me feel all warm and cheerful. I'd never expected to get something so brilliant!
Today I am sewing lots of secret love letter badges. Will post up some photographs once they're completed. When My exhibitions up, I might begin making some to put on my etsy.

blossoms

My Auntie Suzi makes most gorgeous cupcakes, these're slightly banana and toffee flavoured with such soft fluffy butter icing. She's making our wedding cake and yesterday she showed me the bottom layer, it's fruitcake and smells absolutely DELICIOUS!

These are my new shoes from Sally Jane Vintage. I was worried they'd be a little too big as I wasn't quite sure about the shoe size difference from America, but they're a perfect fit! I am really love them, despite Liam firstly thinking they were Indian shoes.

Inspiration: Pretty in Pink

I have to admit I am such a film geek. I love old movies dating from silent movies in the early 1900's, the likes of the Ladykillers and Love is a many-splendored thing from the 1950's right through to the 1980's (Breakfast Club!).
I must say my favourite film of all time is Pretty in Pink. I could watch it over and over Duckie is the star of the show, he has such style and I love the way he talks. When I first watched it, I thought he was Matthew Broderick, and I bought all of Matthew Brodericks films, only to find out that it was Jon Cryer!
Anyway, I think the outfits are just fantastic! I love the way Angie (Molly Ringwald) dresses, in loads of pink and floral patterns.
She makes all her own clothes too, which has really inspired me to get back to the sewing machine with all those lovely fabrics I've been collecting for a while. I'm really excited actually. College finishes in two weeks and then I have all the time in the world to make lovely things, to sort through everything and finally put stuff onto Etsy!

dreamy

Last week was the half term holiday, and the weather was pretty up and down. We spent a lot of the time either watching films or sunbathing in the garden. Then Friday was gorgeous weather, so last minute we decided we (My family and Liam) would go camping just down the road by Polyjoke beach.
We had such a lovely time. On friday, Minnie and I drove up to the campsite early with my dad and set everything up. Then us sisters went for a long walk down to the beach. (photographs above and below are of India-who's wearing my glasses with snapped after being sat on!, and Ruby)
Saturday was even warmer. The heat woke us early, and Liam and I walked around before a yummy cooked breakfast, then drove to Truro to visit a flat we were considering renting. It was a shambles, I loved the look of it from outside, but that is as far as we saw! We waited 45minutes for the woman to turn up and eventually had we just left. Maybe that's God saying its not right, but I did like the sound of it, we'd even have a large garden! The rest of the weekend consisted of sticky heat and lounging around on the beach with lots and lots of suncream!
These are my favourite pictures from the weekend, mainly of the woodland area before the beach. The sun was shining through the trees and it felt cool and dreamily quiet compared to the sweltering energy of everywhere else.
